VS ?


You might wonder what is iWorship 101? What has the guitar got to do with IPod?! Your wonder is right! I too has the same question as you as I attended the Brother Poh's praise and worship lesson. It is simply more than just a praise and worship lesson. He shared many many life experiences besides just teaching us about leading a good praise and worship! Let me share these meaningful revelation with you!! :)

The dying question you want to ask right now should be what has the iPod got to do with guitar? The underlying meaning is simple. One of the thing Poh shared was we should check our lives once in a while to see if our lives has been stagnant. It is never wise to be stagnant as your life will surely degenerate!! You do not need to be a rocket scientist to know that right? :) Maybe once in our lives we have been playing songs on wma format, but now, it is time for us to realise now is the iPod generation. We do not need to resort to poor quality music or even manual categorising of our songs. iPod do it all for us! Like the children of Israel in the Bible. As Moses was instructed to move the whole millions of Israelis into the Land of Canan, God has to get them to move on everytime they had rest for 5-7 days. God knows that if human stay too long in a place, they will become stagnant, uncomfortable, and will not want to move on to the promise land even though they know it is a land flowing with milk and honey!

Remember how a tomb looks like? It will have name of the deceased, the period that he is alive, eg: "1912 - ". Do not forget that no matter how long your life seems to be, we are only living in the short "-" on the tombstone. We got only one chance to live, there is no rehearsal, no full-dress rehearsal whatsoever. Lets live our lives to the fullest, according to what God called us to do, and maximise the talents He has given to us! Remember, it is not how much talent you have, but what you DO with the talents! EVEN if you have only 1 talent but you use it, God will be as happy for you as He is with the man who uses his God-given 10 talents!

Ok, now to the main topic about praise and worship! One thing Poh asked was, "Is Spirituality or Skill more important in Praise and Worship?". The answer is BOTH is as important! Of course you will need to have a strong spiritual life in order to bring down the prescence of God. Although people might get impressed by your skills, but it is your spirituality in leading the praise and worship and brings people to experience God's prescence. However, skills is equally important. Without skills, you will begin to grow stale with the 4-chords that you play all the time! And remember, talent attracts talents! If you desire breakthrough and revival in the cellgroup, be an example to your friends and colleuges! Maximise the talents you have and people will be naturally attracted to you! Like what what shared earlier, God is only happy when you maximise the talents given to you! Skills and Spirituality is equally important. You can't have one without the other.

Why is a good praise and worship so important? The answer is 'touch' from heaven! Read 1 Kings 19:5-8. If you have never believed in 'one touch' from heaven, now is the time! The passage clearly says that because Elijah was touched by the angel of God, he could go in STRENGTH 40 days and 40 nights without food! Just 1 touch from heaven, and you could go on much further than you can imagine. There is only about 40 cellgroup meetings a year. Let me encourage everyone of you to really expect the touch from God from every meetings, for one touch from God could changed your life forever just like in the life of Elijah.

Ever wonder during cellgroup meetings or services why the people around you are weeping and tearing, yet you are nowhere to being moved? The reason is simply your hunger for God. Remember, hunger need to be grown, and it is through faith that your hunger for God grows. That is the reason why we attend service, cellgroup meetings and go for bible study and prayer meetings week in and week out. It is all about growing our faith, growing our hunger for God, and growing our love for God!

This is just some of the things Poh has shared. In ending, I will like to challenge you to really take time to think through your life with God amidst your busy school or work life. Have going to church and going for cellgroup becomes a routine? Is it 'automated' for your hands to be lifted up everytime when you worship God? It shouldn't be this case and never would be! If it is, do take some time to think through your life with God, and make a decision to come back to Him once again!
